ENHANCED! Who doesn’t like to take a photo and make it better? Back when digital photography was in its infancy, a huge debate raged about photographs being “enhanced”. Some well known photographers even went as far as to proclaim that digitally enhanced photos were the work of the Devil himself! Never mind the fast that Ansel Adams was a master at this, using various dark room techniques available at that time. I would love to see what his work would look like given todays tools.
Below are two images. The first is an unenhanced, pretty much out of the camera, image. The second is the same image but drastically enhanced. This was taken a number of years ago when my youngest daughter lived in Santa Fe and took me and Liz to the Pecos Pueblo in New Mexico. Which one grabs your attention? Which do you like better? I really would like to hear your impressions. Comment below, drop me a note via email .

Hi Bill,
My opinion is that the enhanced picture is a bit too extreme. I like the original. It is nice to see both of the photos. Everyone has their own opinion of what they like! You are a great photographer though!
Hey Terri! I agree, it is a little overdone. Adding a few puffy clouds to the otherwise blank sky is probably all that was needed.
Hi Bill,
There is something to be said about the two images. On the one hand, the first photo shows the beauty of the blue sky. On the other hand, the formations stand out with the enhanced background. Maybe less orange?
